Archived data have been employed to calculate climatological mean monthly currents fields in the north-western tropical Atlantic Ocean, to specify monthly transports of the basic circulation elements, and to calculate the intra-annual currents parameters in the active layer. The paper provides a detailed description of seasonal variations of the currents' kinematic structure in the studied region. The North Brazil Current is shown to be most developed in October–December. During that period, its velocity at the sea surface is in excess of 1.5 m s−1.
