Hall Published online: 12 January 2008 Springer Science + Business Media, LLC 2008 In the summer of 2005, I attended a week-long graduate-level entrepreneurship seminar supported by the Kauffman Foundation. The goal of the seminar was to provide economics and management graduate students a comprehensive overview of the field, as most graduate programs do not offer classes on the economics of entrepreneurship. Although I was a little disappointed in the seminar as it seemed to be targeted towards aspiring management faculty, I was delighted to see the Austrian perspective on entrepreneurship well represented on the syllabus. While it is was no surprise to see Kirzner included, given his status as a leading contributor to the economics of entrepreneurship (Douhanet al. 2007), the Austrian school was well represented beyond Kirzner’s(1997) Journal of Economic Literature article. In addition to Demmert and Klein’s(2003) experimental article on entrepreneurial discovery, there were several articles from management journals building off the insights of Kirzner and Hayek.
