Radial forearm flap for ear reconstruction in a case of traumatic ear amputation

Radial forearm flap for ear reconstruction in a case of traumatic ear amputation A 36-year-old male patient with complete amputation of the left ear is presented. He first underwent replantation in a retroauricular skin pocket since microvascular reattachment failed due to poor vascular conditions. Unfortunately, local infection and necrosis occurred, and the cartilage was implanted subcutaneously in the forearm region. Eight weeks later, the cartilage was replanted together with the radial forearm flap and anastomosed to the facial artery and vein. Management of similar cases is discussed and the current literature presented. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png European Journal of Plastic Surgery Springer Journals

Abstract

A 36-year-old male patient with complete amputation of the left ear is presented.
