Two hierarchical levels of forest ecosystem stability are distinguished: the labile phytocenotic level and the inertial soil-biotic level. For each level, indices of resistant and elastoplastic stability of biogeocenoses and forest formations have been calculated, and statistically significant equations for the relationships of these indices with environmental factors have been constructed. The relative contribution of each considered metabolic factor to a given index has been evaluated quantitatively, with verification of the calculation models.
