In 1935, Mikhail Mikhailovich finished with excel- ence a secondary school and went to work at the chair of electrometallurgy of nonferrous metals angrad Polytechnic Institute. Since that time, his life has been associated with this chair and this institute. Only in 1941, after graduating from the institute, he worked during a year at Ural aluminum plant (Sverdlovsk oblast) and after that served in the Soviet army till Since demobilization in 1946 and until now, Mi- hail Mikhailovich has been working at Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (now St. Petersburg State Poly- echnic University), at the chair of electropyrometal- urgy of nonferrous metals (now Theoretical founda- ions of the metallurgy of nonferrous metals,) as junior research worker, postgraduate student, docent, and professor.
