JUBILEES Prof. Alexandr V. Zelenin (On the Occasion of His 70th Birthday) A. P. Akif’ev active in the student scientific society at the Department of Histology of the institute. After graduating from the institute, Zelenin was rec- ommended for postgraduate studies at the Department of Histology. He completed the graduate school pro- gram in 1957 and began to work at the Central Research Laboratory of Pirogov Second Moscow Med- ical Institute, where until March of 1960, he occupied the position of a junior and then a senior research worker. In 1958, Zelenin defended his candidate disser- tation and received the degree of Candidate of medical sciences. In March 1960, he moved to the Institute of Molec- ular Biology, Russian Academy of Sciences (at that time, the Institute of Radiational and Physical–Chemi- cal Biology of the USSR Academy of Sciences), where he has worked until now. Since 1973, he has been the Head of laboratory. The research talent of Zelenin became fully devel- oped during his period at the
