Products formed from alpha radiolysis of chloride brines

Products formed from alpha radiolysis of chloride brines Under alpha irradiation, alkaline chloride brines form H2 (G = 1.2), O2 and chlorate proportional to the dose. The concentrations of additionally formed ClO- and ClO- 2 reach an equilibrium value which depends on the dose rate and the chloride concentration. The solutions become strongly oxidizing (Eh = 900 mV), their pH decreases. This behaviour can be simulated by means of a kinetic model. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Research on Chemical Intermediates Springer Journals

Abstract

Under alpha irradiation, alkaline chloride brines form H2 (G = 1.2), O2 and chlorate proportional to the dose.
