Reliable Computing (2005) 11: 321–322 c Springer 2005 DOI: 10.1007/s11155-005-0043-2 Dear Colleagues, This special issue contains selected works presented at the International Workshop on Interval Mathematics and Constraint Propagation Methods (IMCP’04) organized in Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk, on June 23–24, 2004, by Alexander L. Semenov and Sergey P. Shary. The main purpose of IMCP’04 was to bring together people engaged in research in interval analysis and constraint propagation methods to discuss the hot topics of both areas. We believe that such an exchange of ideas and opinions would facilitate their mutual enrichment and deepen penetration of intervals into constraint propagation and vice versa, which will inevitably produce, in its turn, an impetus to further active development of these interrelated and complementary techniques in practical applications. Our workshop was actually a part of broader scientific meetings held in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok at the end of June 2004. In particular, IMCP’04 wasorganized jointly with the friendly scientific forum isiCAD-2004 (see http://isicad.ru/2004/), with which IMCP’04 even had some joint ses- sions. We are grateful to David Levin, CEO of Ledas Ltd. and the main organizer of isiCAD-2004, for his kind support. At the workshop, the invited talks “The next 100 papers about geometric constraint
