Also available online - www.brill.nl/rci It is a great privilege for us to introduce this Special Issue of Research on Chemical Intermediates dedicated to Prof. Mario Schiavello on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Prof. Schiavello has made important contributions to the development of hetero- geneous photocatalysis; his rich and qualified scientific production and academic positions, filled with great dedication, are the facts of greater resonance. However, for us, his personal qualities are equally significant; we mostly appreciate not only his acute mind, capable of original judgements, but also the love and care shed in his excellent lectures. This Special Issue contains original contributions from people involved in the various aspects of heterogeneous photocatalysis. Nineteen papers are presented from researchers from Universities and public research institutions. The papers cover the following main themes: (i) preparation, characterization and testing of photocatalysts; (ii) combination of heterogeneous photocatalysis with other technologies; (iii) kinetic and mechanistic aspects of photocatalytic reactions; and (iv) photocatalytic syntheses. We wish to thank the authors and the referees for the high quality of their work and for having complied with the deadlines of the http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Research on Chemical Intermediates Springer Journals
