The gunnel Pholis (Enedrias) crassispina (Temminck et Schlegel, 1845) from Vostok Bay (the northwestern part of the Sea of Japan) is reported as new for Russia. A detailed description of the examined specimen of gunnel (mature male, SL 116 mm) is given. Some problems of the systematics, taxonomy, and distribution of the species of the family Pholidae are discussed. A revised key to the species of gunnel fish of the Far Eastern seas of Russia is provided.
