Ecosystems and its editorial staff are required to
follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publi-
cation Ethics (COPE) and consequently are obliged
to notify the readership about an authorship dis-
pute concerning this article.
Specifically, Dr. Lara A. Arroyo, whose name is
in the acknowledgments of this article, and Dr.
n G. Mateo claim that they were not informed
about the decision of publishing their work and
that they should be in the list of authors.
Drs. Lara A. Arroyo and Rube
n G. Mateo have
presented formal complaints to the editorial offices
and the publisher of Ecosystems and to the Univer-
sity of Castilla-La Mancha. The publisher asked the
ethical committee of the University of Castilla-La
Mancha to resolve this dispute, but unfortunately
so far there has not been a formal answer from the
University of Castilla-La Mancha. The publisher
and editorial office of Ecosystems are not in a posi-
tion to resolve this disagreement, but feel impelled
to notify the readers about the status quo.
