Modification of Na+-montmorillonite with mono- and bis(polyfluoroalkyl) phthalates Layered natural aluminosilicate, Na+-montmorillonite, was modified with mono- and bis(polyfluoroalkyl) phthalates. The polyfluorinated esters as Na+-montmorillonite modifiers exhibit high organophilizing and hydrophobizing activity, as demonstrated by thermal analysis and IR spectroscopy. A change in the interlayer spacing in the clay was determined by X-ray diffraction. Abstract

Layered natural aluminosilicate, Na+-montmorillonite, was modified with mono- and bis(polyfluoroalkyl) phthalates. The polyfluorinated esters as Na+-montmorillonite modifiers exhibit high organophilizing and hydrophobizing activity, as demonstrated by thermal analysis and IR spectroscopy.
