Results obtained in fabrication of light-transmitting Y2O3-based ceramics with HfO2 and ZrO2 additives are described. The dependence of their sinterability and optical properties on the kind and amount of additives and some process parameters is established. Important physical and engineering properties of the best compositions of Glubor ceramics are compared with the properties of the imported Yttralox counterpart.
