Model for the interaction of corium oxide melt with a ZrO2 trap The interaction of a multicomponent oxide melt comprising UO2, ZrO2 and Fe(Cr, Ni)O j (the main components of a nuclear reactor core meltdown) with ZrO2 is analyzed theoretically. A model is suggested that describes erosion of the hard wall material in the course of dissolution in the core melt up to saturation of the melt with the erosion products. Abstract

The interaction of a multicomponent oxide melt comprising UO2, ZrO2 and Fe(Cr, Ni)O j (the main components of a nuclear reactor core meltdown) with ZrO2 is analyzed theoretically. A model is suggested that describes erosion of the hard wall material in the course of dissolution in the core melt up to saturation of the melt with the erosion products.
