Potentiostatic and potentiodynamic methods were employed to study the kinetics of electrochemical reduction of the pyrophosphate cobalt complex to the metal from electrolytes of various compositions in the atmosphere of hydrogen. The reaction orders of cobalt reduction with respect to pyrophosphate anions and hydroxy ions were found. A stage-by-stage mechanism of the cathodic reduction of cobalt was suggested.
