Measles and rubella virus vaccine Reactions 1680, p215 - 2 Dec 2017 Measles: 8 case reports A retrospective study described eight patients, born between 1986 2013, who developed measles following vaccination with measles and rubella virus vaccine [live attenuated measles and rubella combined vaccine]. Out of which two were vaccine-related measles and the other six were wild-type measles. The patients were vaccinated with measles and rubella virus vaccine between 2011 2014 [route not stated]. All the patients developed fever and rash (clinical signs of measles) within 4 11 days after the administration. Out of the eight cases of measles, two were considered vaccine-related, based on the VIC fluorescence test. The remaining six were considered as the wild-type [outcomes not stated]. Author comment: "On arrival at the hospital, all of the patients presented with symptoms of fever and red maculopapules. They were clinically diagnosed as measles and reported to the local [center for cisease control and prevention]. It was subsequently discovered that they had been immunized with measles and rubella combined vaccine 4-11 days prior to rash onset."
