The lewis acidic ionic liquid [Bmim]FeCl could be recycled up to 6 times and FT-IR results showed that the spectrum of the reused catalyst was similar to that of the fresh one. Moreover, a possible mechanism of the methanolysis of PLA cata- lyzed by [Bmim]FeCl was proposed. The kinetics of PLA methanolysis was also investigated under the optimum conditions and the results indicated that it was a first-order −1 kinetic reaction with activation energy of 21.28 kJ mol .
