However if they are published without adequate methodologically appropriate correction of such spins, the ultimate result is likely to be suspicion of the validity of all research in this area. Such suspicion will be accentuated by the emphasis now being put on evidence-based medicine in other areas of treatment research, an emphasis that has stimulated the development of Cochrane Collaboration reviews (www.cochrane.dk) of treatment studies. For a study to be included, these reviews require that in addition to conforming to other rigorous criteria, it is a randomized control trial and that the outcome of all subjects who entered treatment is reported, not only those who completed treatment.
