OBITUARIES Konstantin Ivanovich Tikhonov (June 5, 1939 December 24, 2006) DOI: 10.1134/S1070427207030330 On December 24, 2006, head of the Chair of Tech- nology of Electrochemical Industries of St. Petersburg State Institute of Technology (Technical Univesity), doctor of chemical sciences, Professor Konstantin Ivanovich Tikhonov died of a severe illness at the age of 67. A prominent specialist in theoretical and ap- plied electrochemistry, a man of great intellect and rare modesty untimely passed away. Konstantin Ivanovich Tikhonov was born in Lenin- grad into a workers’ family. His father worked at Elektrosila plant. The life of Konstantin Ivanovich is typical of children born before the Great Patriotic War (World War II). His father took part, in ranks of the Red Army, in bloody battles at Oranienbaum bridgehead, and his mother, together with a small son, was evacuated with the plant to the town of Baranchi in the Urals.
