The problem of a remote field of internal waves generated behind a localized disturbance moving within a layer of finite thickness, with large Froud' density number and weak horizontal stratification inhomogeneity is resolved. The paper uses an approach involving a two-dimensional non-stationary description of the generated internal wave field and the methods of geometrical optics. The calculations have shown that the horizontal stratification inhomogeneity notably influences the structure and the geometry of the wave field.
