Inorganic modifiers controlling the physicochemical and mechanical properties of potassium... Effect of inorganic modifiers (sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate, and mixture of these) on the physicochemical and mechanical properties of finely crystalline and granulated potassium chloride containing admixtures of calcium and magnesium chlorides was studied. Abstract

Effect of inorganic modifiers (sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate, and mixture of these) on the physicochemical and mechanical properties of finely crystalline and granulated potassium chloride containing admixtures of calcium and magnesium chlorides was studied. It was shown that the modifiers convert the soluble and hygroscopic calcium and magnesium chlorides to poorly or hardly soluble compounds, which improves the moisture resistance and strength of potassium chloride granules and diminishes their porosity, destructibility, and caking.
