Among his students, there are 14 doctors and more than 50 candidates of science. He published more than 400 scientific works, including 14 monographs. Gorchakovskii made an invaluable contribution to the study of trends in horizontal and vertical differenti- ation of plant cover in the Urals. His monograph Plant World of the High-Mountain Urals (1975) is one of the world’s best synopses on the regional flora and vegeta- tion of highlands. A desk companion for botanists and ecologists is the monograph Basic Problems in Histor- ical Phytogeography of the Urals (1969).
