OBITUARY DOI: 10.1134/S1070427206120330 Vladimir Aleksandrovich Proskuryakov, a known scientist, doctor of technical science, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education, pro- fessor of St. Petersburg State Technological Institute (Technical University), passed away on October 30, All Proskuryakov’s scientific and pedagogical ac- tivities had been associated with the development of science in the field of processing on natural fuels (shale, oil, coal) and with training of engineer- ing and scientific cadre both in our country and abroad. Proskuryakov was born on June 21, 1919, in Petro- grad. In 1937, he entered the Lensovet Technological Institute in Leningrad. In 1941, he volunteered for military service to go to the frontline and served in the field force until the end of the war. He was se- verely wounded at Nevskii pyatachok bridge-head. In 1946, he continued his studies at the Lensovet Tech- nological Institute and, having graduated from the in- tute.
