Russian Journal of Plant Physiology
is published by
the Russian Academy of Sciences every second month
(six issues per year) simultaneously in Russian and
English. Articles in the journal consider problems of
fundamental plant physiology using approaches and
methods of biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, molec-
ular biology, genetic engineering, and other fields.
Submitted manuscripts must represent completed
original research that is not being considered for publi-
cation elsewhere. A manuscript should occupy no more
than 30 pages, including references, tables, figures, and
figure captions. It should contain new experimental
results, a description of new methods opening novel
possibilities for obtaining and analyzing experimental
results, or materials of a theoretical character. Review
articles covering a part of the subject of active current
interest, chronicles of congresses and conferences, and
book reviews are published by invitation, as a rule.
Brief communications are not accepted. However,
in some cases, the editors can suggest that authors to
shorten their manuscript to the size of a brief commu-
nication. Papers on special and applied plant physiol-
ogy, including papers concerning agronomical imple-
mentations, are not accepted.
In the Introduction section, the validity of the pre-
sented study should be briefly described. This section
should answer the following questions: (a) what is the
objective of the work and what is the current state of the
issue? (b) which urgent points of the problem remain
unknown? (c) what are the aims and tasks of the study?
The objective of the work has to be formulated briefly
and clearly and to reflect cause–effect relations of
described phenomena. This section shows the adequacy
of the paper to the profile of the journal and its signifi-
cance. The Discussion section should analyze the
cause–effect relations formulated in the Introduction
The manuscripts containing new and essential
results, which were evaluated by two independent ref-
eree as excellent ones, are published first in the shortest
The manuscripts should be written either in Russian
or in English.
Manuscripts in general should be organized in the
following order: title, name(s) of author(s), complete
postal address(es) of affiliations, fax number and e-mail
address of the corresponding author, abstract (clear,
descriptive, and no longer than one page), key words,
abbreviations (listed in alphabetical order), introduc-
tion, materials and methods, results, discussion,
acknowledgments, references (in the order of their cit-
ing in the text), tables, and figure captions. References
and all illustrations (each table and figure and the list of
figure captions) should be given separately. Every page
of the manuscript, including the text, references, tables,
and figure captions, should be numbered in succession.
On a separate page, additional data about the authors
(full postal address, fax number, and e-mail address)
should be submitted and the corresponding author
should be indicated.
The manuscript must be signed by all authors.
Submit a typewritten original and a copy of the
manuscript, including illustrations, and also an elec-
tronic file on a 3.5" floppy disk or by e-mail. Papers for
consideration should be mailed to the following
address: The Editorial Office of
Russ. J. Plant Physiol.
Institute of Plant Physiology, Russian Academy of Sci-
ences, Botanicheskaya ul. 35, Moscow, 127276 Russia;
e-mail address: email@example.com. In the latter case,
editors will confirm manuscript receipt.
Manuscripts should be typewritten, typed in a single
column on one side of white paper (A4, 210
left and top margins of 2.5 cm and a right margin of
1.5 cm and double spacing throughout (no more than
30 lines per page, point size 12). A high-quality printer
should be used.
Electronic manuscripts should be typed in WinWord
format (version 6.0 and higher) in Times New Roman
font. Figures should be saved in a separate file with
.TIFF, .JPEG, or .GIF extension. When you have no
possibility to prepare an electronic version of your fig-
ures, you should submit them on A4 paper in a form
suitable for scanning.
Before preparing the manuscript, please read the
rules for contributors, which will be published in the
nearest issue of the journal in 2005 and on the Internet
site of the publishers www.maik.ru.
