The book begins with a dedication “to my dear teacher, Sergei Gavrilovich Navashin.” The group of young, gifted researchers “consolidated into a single whole by an intense creative effort”—if I may use V.P. Efroimson’s [8] sublime style—comprising the outstanding cytogeneticists M.S. Navashin, L.N. Delaunay, and M.V. Tchernojaroff gathered around S.G.
