After 1948, the Institute of Experimental Biology was united with the Severtsov Institute of Morphology, where Lopashov received his doctoral degree. In 1965, the Institute of Developmental Biology was founded under the directorship of Academician B.L. Astaurov. Lopashov was nominated as head of a laboratory in this Institute. In 1980, he and his team moved to the Vavilov Institute of General Genetics, and then to the newly organized Institute of Gene Biology, where he is currently successfully working. Georgii Lopashov has written classical studies including a number of monographs on topical problems of experimental embryology. Few people know that Lopashov developed the method of nucleus transplan- tation, the elaboration of which led to cloning of mam- mals long before Briggs and King who are given the credit for it.
