Fractal Analysis of Digital Systems: The Structure and Properties of the Scale Factor The structure and properties of the scale factor are explored. This might serve as a complementary characteristic to Hausdorff dimension in the fractal analysis of digital systems. The scale factor helps one reveal self-similarity in patterns of points and number sets created by partitioning a line segment of unit length with the aid of natural numbers. A resultant number set is related to musical notes. A variable pattern of numbers that are powers of 2 or 3 is discovered in a generalized finite sequence of natural numbers. Abstract

The structure and properties of the scale factor are explored. This might serve as a complementary characteristic to Hausdorff dimension in the fractal analysis of digital systems.
