Fluorouracil/folinic-acid/oxaliplatin

Fluorouracil/folinic-acid/oxaliplatin Reactions 1680, p143 - 2 Dec 2017 Neutropenia and stomatitis: case report An 82-year-old woman developed neutropenia and stomatitis during treatment with fluorouracil, folinic acid and oxaliplatin [mFOLFOX6; routes, dosages, durations of treatments to reaction onsets and outcomes not stated]. The woman, who had history of cStage IIIb rectal cancer diagnosed in April 2015, started receiving mFOLFOX6 chemotherapy with fluorouracil, folinic acid and oxaliplatin following stoma creation. She received standard doses of the mFOLFOX6 chemotherapy. However, after the first course, she developed both grade III stomatitis and neutropenia toxicities. Hence, the woman’s chemotherapy dose was reduced by 20% and continued. Later, she underwent low anterior resection with lymphadenectomy and got discharged. Twenty months following the surgery, no relapse of the rectal cancer was observed. Author comment: "[T]hen standard dose of mFOLFOX6 was initiated. Although grade 3 toxicities of neutropenia and stomatitis were observed after first course, chemotherapy continued with 20% dose reduction." Usuda A, et al. An elderly patient with marginally unresectable rectal cancer obtained pathological complete response by the treatment with mFOLFOX6. Annals of Cancer Research and Therapy 25: 83-87, No. 2, 2017.
