Mammalian Genome 8, 161 (1997). 9 Springer-Verlag New York Inc. 1997 Mammalian Genome Volume 7, number 9, pp 686q590, 1996 "Molecular dissection of a cosmid from a gene-rich region in 17q21 and characterization of a candidate gene for ~-N-acetylglucosaminidase with two cDNA isoforms" by Z. Zhao, A. Yazdani, Y. Shen, Z.-S. Sun, J. Bailey, C.T. Caskey, C.-C. Lee The authors have found a mistake in the Discussion section of the above-mentioned article. The incorrect statement is between lines 11 to 14 from the bottom of page 689: "The function of the a-GlcNAcase involved the mannose 6-phosphate targeting signal on lysosomal enzyme oligosac- charides by digesting GlcNAc residues from GlcNAc-a-P-mannose moieties (Mullis et al. 1994)." The correct statement is: "The function of the a-GlcNAcase involves the degradation of heparan sulfate (Neufeld et al. 1995)." In the Reference section, the references by Mullis, K.G., et al. should be substituted by "Neufeld, E.F., Muenzer, J. (1995) in The Metabolic and Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease, eds. Scriver, C.R., Beaudet, A.L., Sly, W.S. and Valle, D. (McGraw-Hill, New York), pp. 2465-2494."
