Egor Alekhno was born on 8th of April 1979 in Minsk. After finishing the lyceum of Belarusian State University in 1996 he entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Math- ematics of that university. From the very first, he intensively studied mathematics to a far greater extent than was required simply for success. Whilst still an undergraduate, he was involved in research. Professor Petr Petrovich Zabreiko became his academic adviser. After graduating from the university in 2001 he entered the post-graduate course and continued his investigation under the supervision of professor Zabreiko. Since then Alekhno focused his interest on the theory of ordered Banach spaces and operators acting there. After finishing the post-graduate program in 2014, he suc- cessfully defended his PhD thesis ‘Positive operators in ideal spaces’. By that time Alekhno had become a professional mathematician and had started his independent research. Investigations carried out by Alekhno concerned several important directions in classical and functional analysis.
