Editorial Lett Math Phys (2017) 107:1193 DOI 10.1007/s11005-017-0974-7 © Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht 2017 Ludwig Faddeev (1934–2017) Professor Ludwig Faddeev who passed away on February 26, 2017 made a deep impact on Modern Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. His work on Quantum Field Theory has prepared the ground for the Gauge Fields Theory revolution of the 1970’s. His contributions to the Many Body Problem in Quantum Mechanics and to the Inverse Scattering Problem belong to the deepest achievements in these areas. His pioneering work on Quantum Inverse Scattering Method started a wide new field of research, ranging from solvable models in Quantum Field Theory to Quantum Groups. Faddeev was closely associated with our Journal. He has served on the editorial board of LMP since 1979 until his passing. He has been instrumental for the editorial policy of the journal for several decades. His works and ideas remain a source of inspiration for all of us.
