P1: GCQ Sexual Abuse: A Journal of Research and Treatment [saj] pp325-sebu-363768 March 6, 2002 9:50 Style file version Nov. 19th, 1999 ° C Sexual Abuse: A Journal of Research and Treatment, Vol. 14, No. 2, April 2002 ( 2002) In order for our field to continue to expand and for us to be able to provide the best empirically derived assessment and treatment strategies, in the face of limited funding for such endeavors, it is imperative that colleagues share information and work collaboratively. ATSA continues to support such collaboration. ATSA is indebted to Dr R. Karl Hanson and members of the steering committee for their meta-analytic review of the effectiveness of psychological treatment for sex offenders. The resulting data is presented in this issue of the journal as the ATSA Report on the Effectiveness of Treatment for Sex Offenders. Clinicians continue to struggle with how to make predictions regarding who is at risk for re-offending and under what conditions relapse may occur. To date, risk assessment instruments have primarily focused on static risk factors, but this volume of the journal presents a special section on dynamic risk assessment. Our appreciation to Dr Karl Hanson for serving as Editor for this issue. Judith V. Becker Editor-in-Chief ° C 1079-0632/02/0400-0097/0 2002 Plenum Publishing Corporation
