Dobutamine Reactions 1704, p141 - 2 Jun 2018 Ventricular ectopic beats and chest pain with a rise in blood pressure: 2 case reports In a study of 76 patients, two patients [ages and sexes not stated] were described, who developed single ventricular ectopic beats or chest pain with a rise in blood pressure following administration of dobutamine [route not stated]. The patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction underwent low-dose dobutamine echocardiography. The patients were administered low-dose dobutamine, with or without the contrast agent sulfur hexafluoride. The echocardiographic images were recorded at baseline and every 5-minute of the infusion at a rate of 5, 10, and 20 mg/kg body weight/minute, and at 10 minutes after termination of the dobutamine infusion. They experienced dobutamine echocardiography adverse effects including chest pain with a rise in blood pressure and single ventricular ectopic beats (one patient each) [durations of treatments to reactions onsets and outcomes not stated]. Author comment: "Single ventricular ectopic beats were observed during dobutamine testing in 1 patient in the study group.
