Corrosion inhibition of 4-aminoquinaldine on mild steel in acid media

Corrosion inhibition of 4-aminoquinaldine on mild steel in acid media 4-Aminoquinaldine (4-AQ) was tested as an inhibitor for corrosion on mild steel in 1 M H2SO4 by using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and polarization resistance measurements. The EIS data were also analyzed using an equivalent circuit diagram. The effect of immersion time for corrosion on mild steel was also studied. Thermodynamic parameters such as adsorption equilibrium constant (K ads) and free energy of adsorption (∆G ads) were calculated and discussed. The results showed that the corrosion inhibition efficiency increased with the increase of inhibitor concentration and reached 80 % at 5 × 10−2M 4-AQ. It was found that 4-AQ follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm with a free energy of adsorption of −21.58 kJ mol−1. Research on Chemical Intermediates Springer Journals
