An assortment of refractory objects is provided produced by the company Puyang Refractories Group Co. Ltd.
The best product of the company is particular mentioned, i.e. blowing plugs of different composition, manu
factured by vibration casting. Results are provided for operation of the PRCO company products.
Keywords: PRCO company, converter lining, periclase-carbon refractories, bottom blowing lance, refracto
ries for metal delivery, plates for steel-pouring ladle slide gates.
The firm Puyang was founded in 1988. In 2002 the enter-
prise became a limited responsibility company, and from
2007 it is the Joint-Stock Company Puyang Refractories
Group Co Ltd. (then PRCO). The PRCO has a scientific re-
search center for refractory ceramics and a refractory labora-
tory, registered import inspection of the Henan Province, and
a quarantine bureau. The refractory research institute of the
PRCO company has three laboratories for the following ar-
eas: refractories for the metallurgical industry, refractories
for nonferrous metallurgy, electric power generation, the pet-
rochemical industry, and a laboratory for improving product
quality. There is also an experimental test center.
The PRCO company has unique equipment at its dis
posal and it is the sole enterprise in China having a scanning
electron microscope (JSM 6360 produced in Japan) an x-ray
fluorescence spectrometer (PW 243 produced by the Phillipe
Company), a device for diffraction x-ray beams, energy dis
X-ray spectrometer (INCA produced by Britain Oxford
Co.) and it may independently perform testing and analysis
of all form of refractory products, that guarantees constant
monitoring of quality. The broad range of production, manu
factured by the company, makes it possible to provide
refractories for practically any metallurgical branch. Refrac
tory objects and materials of the company operate in blast
furnaces, arc (DSP) and industrial furnaces, oxygen convert
ers, steel-pouring and intermediate ladles of the metallurgical
industry, and also in the petrochemical industry, construction
and power engineering.
The main objects produced by the company are blowing
lance, protection pipes, stopper-monoblocks, submersible
nozzles, plates for slide gates, objects of periclase-carbon
and alumino-periclase-carbon refractories, periclase sealing
briquettes with addition of spinel, silicon carbide objects of
normal dimensions and blocks, monolithic pouring objects,
loose mixes and concretes. The refractory objects and mate-
rials of the PRCO company are presented in the Ukraine
market by OOO Puyang-Keramet.
Currently the PRCO company successfully cooperates
with OAO Azovstal’, OAO Alchevskii Metallurgical Com
bine (OAO AMK), OAO ArselorMittal Krivoi Rog, OAO
Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine, OAO Oskol’sk
Electrometallurgical Combine (OAO OÉMK), RUSAL and
other enterprises. In OAO Azovstal’ periclase-carbon
refractories are supplied for lining the 300-ton converters, in
OAO Alchevskii Metallurgical Combine for 300-ton con
verters, and in the F. E. Dzherzhinskii Dneprovsk Metallurgi
cal Combine (OAO DMKD) for 250-ton converters (Fig. 1).
Periclase-carbon refractory objects are manufactured on the
basis of high quality sorts of periclase and flaky graphite
with addition of anti-oxidants, selected in an optimum way
for each zone of converter operation. From 2004 in OAO
Azovstal’ 12 campaigns have been completed and currently
campaign is proceeding. The working layer of the
converter lining is made differentially with respect to zone.
In 2008 three campaigns were completed (Nos. 9, 10 and
11) that showed the best results for OAO Azovstal’ for the
use of periclase-carbon refractories from different suppliers.
In 2008 the average converter lining life supplied by PRCO
under OAO Azovstal’ conditions was 3114 melts. Campaign
No. 12 started operating under conditions of introduction
