The method of isodefect sections is used to study the concentration dependence of partial activities of components in the TiNy — TiCx. field of the titanium-nitrogen-carbon system at 1273 K. The amount of defects in the alloys is expressed in terms of the concentration of valence electrons (CVE). Equations of concentration dependences of partial activities in the boundary systems TiNy and TiCx and in the TiNy — TiCx field are presented. An attempt to derive an equation of the concentration dependence of the activity of carbon in the TiCx — TiNy field using data expressed in terms of the CVE failed.
