Citalopram/mirtazapine Reactions 1704, p105 - 2 Jun 2018 Extreme fatigue and nausea: case report A 69-year-old woman developed extreme fatigue and nausea following treatment with mirtazapine and citalopram [routes, dosages and durations of treatments to reactions onsets not stated]. The woman had a history of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, unintentional weight loss, fatigue, depression, and poor appetite. Later, she experienced significant physical deconditioning and her conditions led to depression. Hence, she received mirtazapine and citalopram to treat depression and improve appetite. However, she developed extreme fatigue and nausea following the mirtazapine and citalopram therapy. Later, the woman was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and received hydrocortisone therapy which improved her appetite and energy level. Her symptoms continued to improve markedly and later she regained weight and strength. Author comment: "She underwent trials of mirtazapine and citalopram to treat concomitant depression and improve appetite but this was not tolerated secondary to extreme fatigue and nausea."
