FIFTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL SCIENCE
METHODOLOGY OF THE RESEARCH COMMITTEE ON LOGIC AND
METHODOLOGY (RC33) OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIOLOGICAL
Cologne, 3–6 October 2000
The Fifth International Conference on Social Science Methodology will combine
all areas of quantitative and qualitative methods in empirical social research. Earlier
conferences were held in Amsterdam, Dubrovnik, Trento, and Essex. The Zent-
ralarchiv für Empirische Sozialforschung (central archive for empirical social re-
search) in Cologne (Germany) will be our host on 3–6 October 2000. The German
Social Science Infrastructure Service (GESIS) will co-organize the conference, and
Jörg Blasius of the Zentralarchiv will act as chair of the organizing committee.
Cologne is an old city already prosperous in Roman times, and the remnants of
ancient Cologne can still be seen not only in the archaeological museum, but also
around the city. Cologne is famous for its Cathedral and its beer gardens.
Early registration fees (applicable till 1 June 2000): DM 200.- for RC33 mem-
bers and DM 230.- for nonmembers; students pay 100.- DM. Participants from
countries in monetary transition will have to pay a reduced fee of DM 100.- (RC33
members) or DM 130.- (nonmembers). After this date participants have to pay an
additional 50.- DM.
