Announcement: VIth International Conference on Current Trends in Chronically Evolving Viral... 1274 Virology Division News Announcement VIth International Conference on Current Trends in Chronically Evolving Viral Hepatitis October 8–10, 1999, Hannover, Germany The VIth International Conference on Current Trends in Chronically Evolving Viral Hepatitis will be held in Hannover on October 8–10, 1999. This is a series of conferences taking place every 2 years in different European countries, with the last meeting being held in Lyon under the presidency of Prof. Christian Trèpo. These conferences encompass all main focal points of hepatitis B and C infection, including aspects of basic scientific research as well as therapeutic problems. This year’s conference will focus on 9 topics: 1. Basic mechanisms of viral replication 2. Mechanisms of viral pathogenesis 3. Immune response to hepatitis B and hepatitis C virus 4. Therapeutic vaccination 5. Antiviral therapy of hepatitis B and hepatitis C 6. Future therapeutic concepts for hepatitis B and hepatitis C infection 7. Liver transplantation in patients with viral hepatitis 8. Significance of other hepatitis viruses 9.
