We have not attempted to offer an encyclopedic compilation of the literature, Rather, we havc made a synthesis of data from our own laboratory and the laboratories of other investigators which is germam to the hypothesis that the involution of the thymus after sexual maturity plays a critical role in the senescence of the immune system.
