Abstract
[During the period of producing this volume there have been numerous challenges to existing sport cultures and structures as well as a multitude of sporting ‘scandals’. Examples are widespread and include sexual exploitation of women in the recruiting process and murder in American university sport, gambling scandals in international cricket, the use of performance-enhancing substances in American Major League Baseball, widespread bidding scandals in the Olympics and the problems of Athens in its preparations for hosting the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, to name but a few.]
