[Since 2007, Talvivaara Mining Company has held permits to exploit black schist hosted Ni-Zn-Cu-Co sulfide deposit that is one of the largest in Europe. In 2010, the company conducted an evaluation on the environmental impacts of U production. The company will need a license to produce U concentrate. The application was submitted to Finnish Government in April 2010. The licensing process is expected to be accomplished during 2011. Commissioning of the U recovery facility is subject to Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority approval.]
