The information support of basic research The specific nature of library activity is analyzed in the context of new realities that underpin the development and storage of library resources. Arguments that justify the key role of libraries in information support of scientific research are presented. The structure of the library network that belongs to the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations (FASO), which was formerly known as the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), is discussed.
