The elementary excitation spectrum and static structure function are calculated at several pressures, using the polarization potential theory of Aldrich and Pines. The elementary excitation spectrum is found to be in excellent agreement with the recent measurements of Schermet al. The relative contribution of single-pair, multipair, and collective excitations to the static structure function is also calculated; the latter is found to be in good agreement with neutron and X-ray scattering measurements.
