Coherence of Laser Radiation in the Atmo sphere
The propagation of laser radiation through turbulent atmosphere and its focusing by a receiving aperture are numerically simulated. A search for the sharp-image plane, where an image is of minimum angular size, is made. The dependence of the position of the sharp-image plane on the strength of atmospheric turbulence is studied. The calculation results are compared with approximate analytical and empirical expressions for Gaussian beams of different width. It is shown that the position of the sharp-image plane of Gaussian beams is independent of the turbulence strength in the mode of strong fluctuations of the refraction index.
