Appling radical cross-linked and sol-gel technique, a novel solid phase microextraction fiber with 3 r allylbenzo-15-crown-5 was successfully used to extract fenugreek concrete, volatile components were anal y z e d by G C / M S , and their relative contents determined by area normalization, 29 constituents were identified, which accounted for 9 1 . 4 5 M of concrete. 4-ethyl phenol, ethyl b u t y r a t e , dibutyl lJhthalate, 2 , 4 - b i s ( 1 , 1 - d i m e t h y l e t h y l ) p h e n o l , ethyl 9,12-octadecadienoate, dihydro-5-pentyl-2 ( 3 H ) f u r a n o n e , etc w e r e t h e major volatile components in the concrete . In S P M E experiments, T h e factors affecting quantitative results, including absorption time, absorption t e m p e r a t u r e , ionic strength and desorption time are discussed. Results obtained from different S P M E extraction fibers were also compared. S P M E with 80/~m crown ether fiber gave
