In memoriam Prof. Dr. Hab. In _ . Maria Jolanta Kurzawa Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, Vol. 82 (2005) 543 In memoriam Prof. Dr. Hab. Inü. Maria Jolanta Kurzawa 2 November 1941–10 September 2005 The scientific interest of Prof. Kurzawa concerned chemistry and physico-chemistry of inorganic compounds, especially the research on: reactivity of metal oxides, properties of newly obtained compounds of oxy-salt type as well as phase equilibria being established in binary and ternary systems of the type M2O3–X2O5–ZO3 and MO–X2O5–Z2O3. Prof. Kurzawa has been an author or co-author of more than 60 scientific articles published mainly in international journals and of more than 80 works presented on scientific conferences. During the last several years she promoted 4 Doctors and began scientific co-operation with several academies, including the University of Athens and the University of Dresden as well as the Nuclear Research Institute in Dubna. This co-operation resulted in a series of common investigations. She participated also, as a Referee, in editorial procedures of several scientific journal, among others – of the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry as well as of Thermochimica Acta. Prof. Maria Kurzawa will remain in our memory as an extraordinarily talented scientist of a great knowledge, a superior caring for her young co-workers as well as a kind-hearted and hopeful person that we always could rely on. On behalf of the Regional Editors and Associate Editors as well as the Editors of the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry we would like to express our condolences. She was a very valuable scientific support to our Journal and she played an important role in our present success. It is a great loss not only for JTAC but for the whole thermal community.
