How I do it—the Kotecha technique for laser palatoplasty

How I do it—the Kotecha technique for laser palatoplasty Snoring is a common problem affecting approximately 19% of the general population and up to 50% of those over 60 years of age. Surgical techniques to overcome this condition have evolved since the introduction of the uvulopalatopharyngoplasty procedure described by Ikematsu in 1964 and more recently the laser-assisted uvulopalatoplasty by Kamami in 1990. We describe a modified technique that aims to shorten and stiffen the soft palate and posterior pillars without destroying the natural palatal contour. The advantages of this technique are discussed. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Springer Journals

Abstract

Snoring is a common problem affecting approximately 19% of the general population and up to 50% of those over 60 years of age.
