It has been well documented that exposure to thin-ideal media increases body dissatisfaction, internalization of the thin ideal, and disordered eating behaviors in female samples (Grabe et al. 2008; Levine and Murnen 2009), and nowhere is the thin ideal more present than Hollywood film. In the book Body Shots: Hollywood and the Culture of Eating Disorders, Emily Fox-Kales details the impact of popular Hollywood films on societal views regarding beauty and the ideal body.
