Specific features of the performance of engineering ceramics are considered. A general method for estimating the performance reliability based on accelerated test data is developed with a view to predicting the ceramic behavior during long-term operation. The prediction method is based on a generalization of the familiar reliability models of the type “parameter – tolerance margin” for non-monotone semi-random processes. Techniques for estimating reliability from small-size sample data are considered. Recommendations on the choice of mathematical models for description of ceramic parameters during thermal aging are given.
